I am Servia, founder of Insiders. Together with my husband John van der Heijden, I founded Insiders more than 25 years ago and have since built up more than 30 years of experience in destination marketing. Together with my team, I worked on more than 100 strategy projects and 360-degree campaigns: wonderful projects for extraordinary destinations. In my role, I also take on a piece of stakeholder management. The contact with colleagues and partners, who are as enthusiastic about our field as I am, gives me a lot of energy.
Look around you with an open mind: what was, what is, and what may yet come. Nothing is impossible. That’s what I believe in.
Strong strategy plans for beautiful multi-year projects
After 30 years, I still enjoy working for the most beautiful destinations as much as ever. I get a lot of energy from multi-year projects, in which we work together with the team and partners towards a strong strategic plan. The cases of Tourism Flanders and Almere are great examples of this, and the fact that I and our team of 30 Insiders are now asked to tell the beautiful stories of the most diverse destinations feels super special. It makes every day a little bit extra special. Looking around you with attention: what was, is or can still be. Nothing is impossible. That is what I believe in.
This is my favourite place
Maurick Castle in Vught is my favourite place for many reasons. It is a place steeped in history and wonderful stories, dating back far before my time. As a child, I was fascinated by the stories my father told me about the Reigersbos and the siege of Den Bosch. To me, the castle and its surroundings were an enchanting realm of adventure and imagination.
Maurick Castle has stolen my heart. It is more than just a historical place; it is a place where my own history is intertwined with that of the castle. It is a place full of enchantment, where I always feel at home. Every time I walk across the drawbridge, I feel connected to the past and inspired for the future. It will always be my favourite place to visit, to cherish memories and enjoy the wonderful stories it has to offer.
